199 Unknown is a multimedia video exploring the erasure and invisibility of migration, filmed on Lesvos in November 2024. Its title refers to the 199 graves in the refugee cemetery of Kato Tritos, most marked only as “UNKNOWN.” Restored by a local NGO, the cemetery now stands as a stark reminder of unacknowledged loss. Set to the rhythm of the Synaxis Day march, the video weaves images of the cemetery with remnants of migrants’ journeys and scenes from Lesvos’ contested spaces.
