Calls for Cages examina de forma crítica la práctica de exhibir animales en jaulas para el disfrute humano.
La obra sitúa las llamadas y cantos de los primates dentro de un paisaje natural imaginado, para después despojarlos de su contexto ambiental y transformarlos brutalmente hasta encajarlos en una nueva realidad impuesta por el ser humano.
En la sección final, se nos presenta por fin el audio original, sin editar, de los jardines zoológicos de Hong Kong: la ciudad despertando y las llamadas de los animales desvaneciéndose lentamente hasta el silencio.

Calls for Cages critically examines the practice of displaying animals in cages for human pleasure. It places the calls and songs of primates within an imagined natural landscape, before stripping that sound of its environmental context and brutally reshaping it to fit with a new, human imposed reality. In the closing section, we are finally presented with the original, unedited audio of Hong Kong’s zoological gardens, the city waking up, and the animal calls slowly diminishing to silence.
